Welcome to the family! Whether you’re gearing up for your first season or just need a refresher, here’s everything you need to know about playing in a Koala Sports league.
1. What is Koala Sports?
We organize recreational adult sports leagues designed for fun, community, and good times. Players register for a league based on the sport, location, and night of the week. We currently offer kickball, volleyball, flag football, pickleball, and softball.
2. What leagues are currently available?
Checkout our leagues and locations here.
3. Who can play?
All players must be 18 or older. We welcome all skill levels — whether you’re new to the sport or an experienced player, there’s a place for you here.
4. What if I sign up as a free agent?
Free agents are assigned to a team the night before the season begins. You’ll get an email or text message with all the details.
5. What should I wear?
Wear shoes appropriate for your sport but you don’t need anything fancy or expensive. We don’t require specific footwear but here’s what we recommend:
- Kickball- Rubber cleats (no metal cleats are allowed)
- Volleyball- Sneakers or rubber cleats (no metal cleats are allowed)
- Flag Football- Rubber cleats (no metal cleats are allowed)
- Pickleball= Sneakers
6. Are shirts and equipment provided?
For most leagues, shirts are included (except for softball). Equipment varies:
– Pickleball: Bring your own paddle (or borrow one if available). We provide balls and team shirts.
– Flag Football: We provide flags and team shirts.
– Kickball & Volleyball: We provide balls, game equipment, and team shirts.
– Softball: Players bring their own softballs in coordination with the league commissioner. We provide team shirts at an additional cost.
7. Are games officiated?
Yes! All games are officiated except:
– Pickleball: Self-called.
– Volleyball: Mostly self-called; the ref tracks score and settles rule disagreements.
8. What if I can’t make a game?
Let your team captain know ASAP. All sports, except for flag football, can get a sub for a player that will be missing a game.
9. Do you hold practices?
Nope! We organize games only. However, teams may choose to find a park to practice on their own if they wish!
10. Are spectators allowed?
Yes! Friends and family are welcome — as long as they follow our code of conduct.
11. What’s your rainout and weather policy?
Games are only canceled when absolutely necessary.
– We don’t “un-cancel” — once it’s off, it stays off.
– Weather varies; don’t assume based on your local forecast.
– Notifications via Instagram & group chats (aim for 30-60 minutes in advance).
– 1–2 rainouts: We’ll try to reschedule.
– 3+ rainouts: We may reduce the season by 1 game.
– Field closures by cities/counties are final.
12. What do I need to know about rosters and minimums?
Team size and game minimums vary. For example, volleyball teams need 6 paid players to register, and at least 4 to play a game. Every roster requirement can be found in each sport’s rules page.
13. Is there a code of conduct?
Yes. All players must agree to and follow our code of conduct found in each sport’s rules. Koala Sports reserves the right to suspend or ban players or teams who violate the code of conduct.
14. Are refunds available?
We do not offer refunds, but in limited cases, we may offer credit toward a future season.
15. Do players sign a waiver?
Yes, during online registration.
16. Is there music allowed during games?
Yes, and we encourage it! Speakers are welcome — just keep volume reasonable and music appropriate.
17. Can I bring my own gear?
Depends on the sport. Check with your league’s rules or your commissioner.
18. Are there food or drink rules at the fields?
Varies by park, but alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited.
19. Where can I find my schedule and standings?
They’ll be posted on our website and/or shared through league group chats.
20. When are playoffs held?
Depending on the league and sport, playoffs may be held on a weekend date different than the day games are normally held. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us and we’ll let you know!
